Marionnette
Bagatelle-concertante for viola and chamber orchestra
2024
Marionnette is a work for viola and chamber orchestra, subtitled “bagatelle-concertante”. It evokes stories of illusion, freedom and the pseudo-fantastic, translated into music as a puppet theatre, yet without a stage, puppets or puppeteers. Abstractly inspired by Collodi’s children’s novel, Pinocchio, Marionnette was awarded 1st prize ex aequo at the 78. Concours de Genève. The work was premiered in Victoria Hall with Georgy Kovalev (viola), Pierre Bleuse (conductor) and the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève.
