Caio de Azevedo, geboren 1993 in Salvador, Brasilien, ist ein Komponist. Als Mitglied der NEOJIBA (Staatliche Zentren für Jugend- und Kinderorchester in Bahia) war er als Cellist, Professor und Komponist tätig. Hier erlernte er das Dirigieren bei Eduardo Torres und war als Dirigent und Assistenzprofessor des Jugendchores von Bahia (2011-2012) tätig. Parallel dazu nahm er im Jahr 2011 mit Maria Guinand und Alberto Grau an der Meisterklasse Chorleitung in Bogotá, Kolumbien teil. Als Cellist, trat er mit dem Sinfonieorchester der Universität Bahia, Sinfonieorchester Bahia, Binationalen Orchester (Brasilien/Venezuela) auf, sowie mit dem Young Orchestra of Bahia mit wichtigen Solistin und Solistinnen wie Martha Argerich, Lang Lang, Maxim Vengerov, Midori, Shlomo Mintz, u.a. in den USA, in Europa und Brasilien.
Seine Kompositionen wurden vom MIVOS String Quartet (US), dem International Contemporary Ensemble (US), das Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie (DE), Camará Ensemble (BR), Quarteto Radamés Gnattali (BR), Neues Kollektiv München (DE), ensemble recherche (DE) und dem Oktopus Ensemble (DE) aufgeführt. ln Zusammenarbeit mit der Theaterakademie August Everding und der Regisseurin Maike Bouschen, hat er für die Produktionen „Lenz“(2017), „Nach den Fakten kommt das Nichts“(2017) sowie mit Gineke Pranger „Finita”(2019) komponiert. Außerdem wurden zwei seiner Stücke als Abschluss der Reflective Conservatoire Conference (Guildhall School, London) gezeigt. Im Jahr 2019 schrieb er „Macbeth”, ein Ballett in 3 Akten, für das Theater Koblenz.
Für seine Kompositionen wurde ihm ein Preis im Rahmen des Lindembergue Cardoso composition contest (Bahia) sowie der zweite Preis und der Publikumspreis beim First Composition Prize of Bahia und der 1. Preis beim Wolfgang Jacobi Kompositionswettbewerb
Caio hat sein Bachelorstudium für Cello bei Prof. Suzana Kato und Komposition bei Prof. Paulo Costa Lima an der Universidade Federal da Bahia sowie ein Masterstudium in „Musical Creation-Interpretation“; und ein Masterstudium und ein Weiterbildende Zertifikatsstudium Meisterklasse in Komposition bei Prof. Moritz Eggert an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater München abgeschlossen.
Seit 2017 ist er Cellist des Zentaur-Quartetts für zeitgenössische Musik.

Caio de Azevedo is a composer based in Germany, born in 1993 in Salvador, Brazil. As a member of NEOJIBA (State Centers for the Youth and Children’s Orchestras of Bahia) had act, between 2009 and 2016, as cellist, professor of musical theory and cello, choir conductor and composer, performing as cellist with the Bahia University Symphony Orchestra, Bahia Symphony Orchestra, the Binational Orchestra (Brazil/Venezuela) and in tour with the Young Orchestra of Bahia in USA, Europe and Brazil with important soloists such as Martha Argerich, Lang Lang, Maxim Vengerov, and many others. In 2011, he participated in the Choral Conducting Masterclass with Maria Guinand and Alberto Grau in Bogotá, Colombia.
As a composer, had pieces performed by the MIVOS String Quartet (US) , International Contemporary Ensemble (US),the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie (DE), Oktopus Ensemble (DE), Quarteto Radamés Gnattali (BR), Camará Ensemble (BR), Neues Kollektiv München (DE) and the ensemble recherche (DE); several theater pieces in collaboration with the Theaterakademie August Everding (Munich, Germany), for example, for “Lenz”(2017), “Nach den Fakten kommt das Nichts” (2017) with the director Maike Bouschen and “Finita”(2019) with Gineke Pranger, as well as two pieces at the closure of the Reflective Conservatoire Conference (Guildhall School, London). In 2019, he writes “Macbeth”, a Ballet in 3 acts, for the Theater Koblenz.
He won prizes such as the Lindembergue Cardoso composition contest and 2nd prize and public prize at First Composition Prize of Bahia (Brazil) and the 1st prize at Wolfgang Jacobi Composition Competition (Germany). Between 2017-2018 he received a scholarship from the Orlandus Lassus Stiftung.
Caio earned a Bachelor in Cello from Universidade Federal da Bahia, a Master in Musical Creation-Interpretation from the same institution having had as professors Suzana Kato (Cello) and Paulo Costa Lima (Composition); a Master and a Master Class Certificate in Composition from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich with Moritz Eggert.
Since 2017 he is the Cellist of the Zentaur String Quartet for new music.

Caio de Azevedo é um compositor brasileiro, nascido em 1993 em Salvador, Bahia e atualmente, vivendo e trabalhando em Munique, na Alemanha. Como membro do NEOJIBA (Núcleos Estaduais de Orquestras Juvenis e Infantis da Bahia) atuou como violoncelista, regente assistente de coro (2011-2012, estudando regência sob a tutela de Eduardo Torres), professor de teoria e compositor. Como violoncelista, se apresentou com a OSUFBA, OSBA, a Orquestra Binacional (Brasil/Venezuela) e participou com a Orquestra Juvenil da Bahia em turnês pelo Brasil, Europa e Estados Unidos, se apresentando junto a renomados solistas como Martha Argerich, Lang Lang, Maxim Vengerov, Midori, Shlomo Mintz.
Como compositor, teve suas obras apresentadas pelo MIVOS String Quartet (US), the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie (DE), Oktopus Ensemble (DE), Quarteto Radamés Gnattali (BR), Camará Ensemble (BR), Neues Kollektiv München (DE), pelo ensemble recherche (DE), dentre outros; escreveu para diversas peças de teatro na Academia de Teatro August Everding (Munique, Alemanha) como por exemplo: “Lenz”(2017), “Nach den Fakten kommt das Nichts”(2017) com a diretora Maike Bouschen e “Finita”(2019) com Gineke Pranger, assim como duas obras para o encerramento do Reflective Conservatoire Conference (Guildhall School, London). Em 2019 escreve “Macbeth”, um Balé em 3 atos, para o Teatro Koblenz.
Foi agraciado com o Prêmio Lindembergue Cardoso de composição (Bahia), com o segundo Prêmio e o Prêmio do Público no I° Prêmio de Música Contemporânea da Bahia ; e primeiro Prêmio na Competição de Composição Wolfgang Jacobi (Alemanha). Entre 2017-2018 foi bolsista do Orlandus Lassus Stiftung.
Caio é bacharel em Violoncelo e mestre em Criação-interpretação pela Universidade Federal da Bahia, tendo como professores a Prof.ª Dr.ª Suzana Kato (violoncelo) e o Prof. Dr. Paulo Costa Lima (composição), mestre em Composição pela Hochschule für Musik und Theater (Munique, Alemanha) e pós-mestre sob o título Weiterbildende Zertifikatsstudium Meisterklasse com o Prof. Moritz Eggert.
Desde 2017 é violoncelista do Quarteto de Cordas Zentaur de Música Contemporânea.
